Teaching and leading in dentistry
Dr. Richard Vermillion serves as Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor at Temple University School of Dentistry where he teaches third and fourth year dental students one day a week in the school clinic and also gives lectures to students and continuing education for fellow faculty. He was recently recognized by the students for his clinical teaching and also serves as the faculty advisor for the Dental Practice Management Club. He is a mentor for younger dentists through the Academy of General Dentistry and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the L.D. Pankey Foundation.
Dr. Jennifer Vermillion serves as visiting faculty at the Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida. She travels to Florida yearly to teach practicing dentists from across the United States at this prestigious non-profit continuing education institute. In addition to Dr. Jennifer teaching at the L.D. Pankey Institute, she serves on the Institute’s Board of Advisors.
Professionally, both Drs. Vermillion are members of the American Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry. They are active in several dental learning groups focused on comprehensive care, occlusion, TMD, orthodontics and restorative dentistry.
Community and Family
Community involvement is important to both Drs. Vermillion. Dr. Jennifer Vermillion is a church organist and cantor. She enjoys improv comedy and acting. Dr. Richard Vermillion serves on the Panther Valley Blueprint Communities team working on revitalization of the communities of Coaldale, Lansford, Nesquehoning, and Summit Hill. He also enjoys performing standup comedy and distilling gin. Hiking, biking and most anything else outdoors keep them busy when not at work.
Drs. Vermilion are lifelong residents of Carbon County and currently reside in Summit Hill. They have two grown sons, Ethan and Maxwell.
