Your oral health is closely connected to your overall health. Salivary testing can provide additional information about the bacteria, viruses, and genetic risk factors that may affect your teeth, gums, and oral tissues.
Our office uses OralDNA® laboratory testing when it may help us better understand a patient’s individual risks and personalize treatment. Depending on your needs, testing may help us:
- Identify bacteria associated with periodontal disease
- Select more targeted treatment recommendations
- Evaluate how well periodontal treatment is working
- Assess bacterial risk for developing cavities
- Identify certain genetic markers associated with inflammation
- Screen for selected high-risk types of oral HPV
Testing is simple and noninvasive, using a small saliva sample collected in our office. Results are interpreted along with your examination, dental history, periodontal measurements, and other clinical findings.
